StretchI-5 — Pinehurst to Mill Creek
In south Everett, I-5 heads south from a big interchange northeast of the Everett Mall. There, SR 99 branches off to the southwest under the name Everett Mall Way, SR 526 runs out west toward the Boeing Everett Factory and Mukilteo, and SR 527 goes south through Mill Creek. The freeway goes by the South Everett park and ride, which sits in the median at 112th Street Southeast, close to the mall. A southbound-only rest area is there too, along with Silver Lake. Then comes the junction with SR 96, southeast of Paine Field. Mill Creek sits east of Interstate 5. In the 1960s and 1970s, developers took options on the Garhart property and nearby farms, picturing a master planned community there. The recently finished interstate was close. Mill Creek became a city in 1983. [1]
