StretchI-5 — Totem Park to Quil Ceda Village
I-5 runs due south along the line between Marysville and the Tulalip Indian Reservation. Two interchanges serve the area, one at 116th Street by the casino and the outlet mall, the other at 88th Street by Quil Ceda Village. The village is a municipality chartered by the Tulalip Tribes, and no other federal municipality exists apart from Washington, D. C. Before the stores, the land was a testing site. The Defense Department leased it to store ammunition during the 1940s and 1950s, then Boeing tested jet engines there until 2000. Retail began in 2001 with Walmart and The Home Depot. The 495-acre village has since added a business park. The casino outgrew its first home and moved into a bigger building in 2003, and an open-air mall followed in 2005. [1]
