PlacePark Place School District Two
Sal is a voice that rides along as you drive Washington's roads: the road ahead, the pass, the stories of the places you pass.
Henry McClurg claimed land in 1860 where the Skykomish and Snoqualmie rivers join to form the Snohomish River, then moved inland four years later and founded the settlement of Park Place. By 1869 he was county superintendent of schools, the first one the county had. His whole system came to two districts. One met in the Blue Eagle Saloon in Snohomish City, which says something about how schooling got started out here. The other gathered at Park Place and took the name District Two, a title dated to late November of that year. Not many places can say they made up half a county's school system. McClurg also got to name the Monroe post office, but that is another story. [1]
