PlaceTop Pot Doughnuts
Two brothers, Mark and Michael Klebeck, opened the first Top Pot in February 2002, in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood [1]. The name came from a vintage neon sign that had hung in front of a boarded-up Chinese restaurant, Topspot [1]. The co-founders purchased that sign, and during the trip with it the letter S came loose and dropped off [1]. Mark proposed putting a coffee pot in its place [1]. In October 2010, Barack Obama stopped for doughnuts at the shop on 5th Avenue, in the Belltown and Denny Regrade neighborhood [1]. In January 2011, Seattle mayor Mike McGinn wagered a dozen maple bars with New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu on a football game [1]. The Travel Channel featured the shop on a program called Donut Paradise [1]. In 2011, Mark Klebeck, Michael Klebeck and Michael Thomson published a book of doughnut recipes for home bakers [1].
