The park sits at 7708 20th Street SE, and for sixteen years it was a kind of loose end. Lake Stevens annexed it in 2009, but the county went on running it, because the city had no parks staff built up for the job of upkeep and development. By 2025 that had changed. The city agreed in May to take ownership, the county agreed in August to donate the land, and the transfer became official one day before a gathering in the park. A county official said the timing made sense, since Lake Stevens had a robust parks department by then. The dog park, skate park and playground were to stay as they are, with 8.5 acres set aside for something new. [1]

What Sal knows

What it isLake Stevens’ residents gathered in Cavalero Hill Park on Tuesday to celebrate the park’s official transfer from Snohomish County to the city. The park was annexed into Lake Stevens in 2009 , but remained under county control because the city was not yet ready to take on park maintenance and development, County Council member Sam Low told The Herald in August.
