PlaceSexton Creek
Sal is a voice that rides along as you drive Washington's roads: the road ahead, the pass, the stories of the places you pass.
Sexton Creek is a small tributary of the Pilchuck River, and for a long time a pair of culverts kept fish from using it. The old ones were five and a half feet across, and they sat under both Sexton Road and US 2. The state and the county decided to fix them together, which a cabbie can appreciate, since two agencies agreeing on anything is rare. The state put in a bridge structure under the highway. The county buried a bridge with a twenty-seven-foot span under the road and pulled out a string of weirs downstream. About 550 feet of channel was restored, starting where the creek meets the Pilchuck. Chinook, coho, steelhead and cutthroat can swim the whole creek again. [1]
