StretchI-90 — Mercer Island to Eastgate
Interstate 90 sends its eastbound traffic across the Lacey V. Murrow Memorial Bridge. Westbound traffic takes the Hadley bridge, named for Homer M. Hadley, which is broader because it also holds a trail and the light rail tracks. Both float on Lake Washington, linking Seattle with the Eastside suburbs, and both rank among the longest floating bridges anywhere. On Mercer Island the freeway runs beneath the Mercer Island Lid, a landscaped park laid over a bending stretch of roadway. It comes back into daylight in the middle of town, where a light rail station sits in the median beside a park and ride. The East Channel Bridge then carries it into Bellevue. In Bellevue, the Eastgate neighborhood has a stretch of I-90 that sees 150,000 vehicles on an average day, more than any other piece of the highway. [1]
