Novelty Hill Road is named for Novelty, a vanished Snoqualmie Valley town with a store, a hotel and a dance hall.

The town of Novelty stood in the Snoqualmie Valley, and at its height it held a post office, a church, a store, a dance hall and a hotel, and the train between Carnation and Duvall stopped there [1]. Over the decades the businesses closed, and in 1969 the old store and the dance hall burned down [1]. Where the town once was, a traffic roundabout stands [1]. Novelty Hill Farm is the last landmark remaining from that town, which still appears on maps, and the hillside carries the name Novelty Hill because the town of Novelty once sat at the farm itself [1]. George and Emily Pickering purchased the farm in 1884 from Mr. Peets, the original homesteader, and the family has owned and worked it since the late 1800s [1].
