PlacePoo Poo Point
Poo Poo Point sits on a shoulder of West Tiger Mountain, where a small knoll carries a mast and a windsock [1]. The name came from the steam whistle sounds that carried through the Tigers in the early logging days [1]. Weyerhaeuser logged the ground around the point in the 1970s and took the stumps with them, leaving a wide clearing that paragliders use as a launching pad, generally carrying their gear up the Chirico Trail [1]. They soar off the steep northwestern face [1]. The old railroad grades from the logging era serve as the route in, crossing small creeks, some of them seasonal [1]. Decaying stumps remain along the climb, some of them looking like abstract sculptures in reddish brown [1]. A gravel service road, the West Side Road, arrives at the point [1]. From there the view runs northwest over Issaquah and Lake Sammamish toward Bellevue [1].
