PlaceThe Outlet Collection Seattle
Sal is a voice that rides along as you drive Washington's roads: the road ahead, the pass, the stories of the places you pass.
The place opened on August 25, 1995, in Auburn, as the Supermall of the Great Northwest. Glimcher Realty Trust developed it, and the first year saw 175 stores and more than 14 million customers come through. The early anchor list read like a catalog of its era: Saks Fifth Avenue, Oshman's SuperSports, Marshalls, and Incredible Universe, a big electronics outfit on the north side. The luck did not hold. Incredible Universe closed in 1997 after the company's demise, and its building became a Sam's Club. By 1998, Saks had closed along with one fifth of the stores. Outlet shops gradually took over, which led to a $30 million renovation that moved the food court and added pedestrian corridors. In May 2012, it was rebranded The Outlet Collection Seattle. [1]
