PlaceFall City United Methodist Church
Sal is a voice that rides along as you drive Washington's roads: the road ahead, the pass, the stories of the places you pass.
The church in Fall City began with a Baptist minister named James Morgan, who came to preach in town in 1898. The community rallied around him to raise funds and build a church meant to be interdenominational. It stood at the northwest corner of Main Street and Third Street, and an opening celebration was held there in 1899. The Baptist membership could not pay off what remained of the building debt. So in 1919 the Methodists bought it, helped by a $250 grant from a Methodist board in Philadelphia. The grant came with a condition: the church had to carry the name Mary Ware Benedict Memorial. Many of the Baptist families decided to become Methodists, and they kept gathering in the same building. [1]
