PlacePrescott-Harshman House
Sal is a voice that rides along as you drive Washington's roads: the road ahead, the pass, the stories of the places you pass.
Delphus Huffman built the Prescott-Harshman House in 1904, and Martin and Parthena Prescott lived there until 1909. In 1912 it became the home of Newton and Julia Harshman, who the sources describe as very respected members of the community. The Harshman Telephone Company moved its office into the house that same year, and the outfit was later called the Fall City Telephone Company. After Julia passed away in 1933, the business went to her daughter Gertrude, her only child, and to Gertrude's spouse, George Satterlee. The couple kept the phones working until Cascade Telephone of North Bend bought the company in 1947. King County named the house a landmark in 1984. Audrey Schroeder bought the aging place in 1989 and restored it, inside and out. [1]
