Back in 1937 the state took the valley route into its highway system and gave it a name that sounds like something off a clerk's filing cabinet, Secondary State Highway 15B. It tied Primary State Highway 15 in Monroe to Primary State Highway 2 and U. S. Route 10 in Fall City, and in between it picked up the farm towns of Carnation and Duvall. It runs through the Snoqualmie Valley for 24 miles, north to south, from a junction with U. S. Route 2 in Monroe down to a roundabout with State Route 202 near Fall City. Then in 1964 the legislature reworked how state highways were numbered, and 15B became State Route 203. A highway changes its paperwork a good deal more often than its curves. [1]
